Wabasso Day

– The City of Wabasso has a population of approximately 650 people and the Mayor is Jerry Frericks.


–  Wabasso is home to veteran skydiver Mike Trost, who has competed in numerous national and international events.


–  A rural Wabasso college student is the face of Farm Boy Brand clothing. Ross Potter was discovered by Farm Boy at the Cow Barn of the Minnesota State Fair. He was photographed on location at his family farm.


– 54 area athletes were honored at the 46th annual KNUJ Player of the Year Banquet in 2008. A.J. Jenninges of Wabasso was awarded Wrestler of the Year.


– Wabasso High School Homecoming Queen was Tori Altermatt and Homecoming King was Jacob Bierl in 2008.


– The Jonti-Craft company in the City of Wabasso had one of it’s products chosen as a “Teacher’s Pick” award recipient by Instructor Magazine in 2008. The company’s Sproutz 4 Station Art Center was named the “Best Earth Friendly Innovation”.


– The Wabasso Golden Living Center was awarded the Care Providers of Minnesota’s prestigious “James B. Swanson Award of Excellence” in 2008.  The statewide award only goes to a select few facilities doe dedication and commitment to quality in the care of residents and the work life of employees.


– Wabasso High School senior Rebecca Guetter participated in the North Central American Choral Directors Association Honor Choir. Rebecca Guetter was among a small group from a 6-state area chosen for the Honor Choir. She said it was an unexpected honor to be chosen.
