    1. Rich Ruch Benefit T-Shirts & Bracelet Sales
      5:00 pm – 5:00 pm

      Fundraising t-shirts and bracelets for the Rich Ruch will be sold this Tuesday and Thursday, August 26 & 28 at the Bill and Cathy Koob residence, 110 5th Street South, New Ulm from 5-8pm.

      They will also be sold Wednesday, August 27 and Friday, August 29, at Creative Hair Company, 1106 South Broadway, from 9am-5pm

    1. Heartland Express to Observe Labor Day Weekend
      8:00 am – 3:00 pm

      The Brown County Heartland Express will not be operating on Sunday, August 31, or Monday, September 1, in observance of the Labor Day Holiday Weekend. Regular service resumes on Tuesday, September 2.

      To request and schedule rides for the Tuesday following Labor Day, passengers are requested to call the Brown County Heartland Express office no later than 3pm on Friday, August 29, at 359-2717 or 1-800-707-2717.

    2. Riverblast, New Ulm
      5:00 pm – 11:45 pm

      Riverblast in New Ulm will be held on Friday & Saturday, August 29 & 30 at Riverside Park; Center Street and the Minnesota River.

      This is a free cultural event and festival at the river. Friday gala celebration starts at 5pm. Cold Blooded Whiskey from 5-8pm; Barefoot Winos 8:30pm-close. Camping in Riverside Park; one camping unit and one support vehicle, dogs must be on leash/$25 per site.

      Saturday event begins at 11am; Watershed information; afternoon horse drawn trolley rides along the river; free face painting; “Pirate Ship” playground for kids on the premises; obstacle course for canoes Saturday; get free rides in a Mankato Padding & Outings Club 28 ft canoe; Dick Kimmel and Company 12-3pm; Schell’s Hobo Band, 3:30-4:30pm; Jumbo Ya Ya 5-8pm; The Arcades from 8:30pm-12:30am.

    1. Sand Volleyball Tournament, New Ulm
      9:30 am – 11:45 pm

      Sand Volleyball Tournament with the Goosetown Roller Girls will be held on Saturday, August 30; sign in at 9:30am; play to start at 10am at Kegel Kourts, New Ulm.

      Cost is $60/team or $10/per person (no team); must be 18+ in order to play. Proceeds support the Goosetown Roller Girls.

    2. Children’s Games & Craft Day, Fort Ridgely
      12:00 pm – 4:00 pm

      On Saturday, August 30, families are invited to Fort Ridgely from 12-4pm for games on the parade grounds as well as create crafts  inside the Commissary building. There will be games such as field ball, stilts, and grades for the children to play. They will also show you how to make a hanky doll or your own catapult.

    1. Hanska Fire Department Pork Chop Supper
      4:00 pm – 8:00 pm

      Hanska Fire Department Pork Chop Supper will be held Saturday, September 6, from 4-8pm at the Hanska City Park. 

      They will be serving pork chops, baked potato, baked beans, coleslaw, bread and hamburgers and hot dogs from children. Take out and delivery available in town by calling 507-439-6276. 

      All proceeds will go for training and equipment.

    1. Benefit for Rich Rush
      12:30 pm – 6:30 pm

      Benefit for Rich Rush will be held Sunday, September 7, at Searles Community Center and Searles Bar and Grill from 12:30-6:30pm.

      There will be a Bike/Car Run, register 11:30am-12:30pm); food; entertainment; silent auction; t-shirts and bracelets. Pork sandwich meal and refreshments available.

      A portion of proceeds will go to Rich’s medical treatment and also to the New Ulm Medical Oncology Department.

    1. Brown County Pheasants Forever Mentored Youth Hunt
      8:00 am – 2:30 pm

      Brown County Pheasants Forever Mentored Youth Hunt will be September 13 at 8am and will wrap up sometime early afternoon.

      Any youth age 11-15. Youth need to have a Firearm’s Safety Certificate, blaze orange clothing and gun (guns will be provided if needed). Each youth have one mentor with dog. Two birds will be planted per youth. Only youth will carry a gun.

      They will be to hunt pheasants and shoot on the sporting clay course. There will be instructors on hand to help and give shooting tips. Parents are encouraged to participate. Lunch will be served. There is no charge for this event.

      Hunting will be at River Ridge Gun Club in Courtland. The hunt is being assisted and sponsored by Sioux Trails Deer Hunters; Izaak Walton League and Der Deutsche Long Beards (NWTF).
