      5:30 pm – 6:30 pm

      Monthly Community Dinner, United Church of Christ, 301 South Minnesota Street – 4th Wednesday of the month, 5:30-6:30pm

      June 25; July 23; August 27; September 24; October 22; November 19 (3rd Wed. of month); December 17 (3rd Wed. of month).

    1. German-Bohemian Heritage Society Picnic
      11:00 am – 2:00 pm

      The German-Bohemian Heritage Society Picnic will be Saturday, September 6, at Hermann Heights Park, shelter number one. Social begins at 11am, with potluck at 12pm.

      Enjoy delicious American and German food. Coffee and juice will be provided. Bring a dish to pass, your own eating utensils and lawn chairs.

    2. Hanska Fire Department Pork Chop Supper
      4:00 pm – 8:00 pm

      Hanska Fire Department Pork Chop Supper will be held Saturday, September 6, from 4-8pm at the Hanska City Park. 

      They will be serving pork chops, baked potato, baked beans, coleslaw, bread and hamburgers and hot dogs from children. Take out and delivery available in town by calling 507-439-6276. 

      All proceeds will go for training and equipment.

    1. Benefit for Rich Rush
      12:30 pm – 6:30 pm

      Benefit for Rich Rush will be held Sunday, September 7, at Searles Community Center and Searles Bar and Grill from 12:30-6:30pm.

      There will be a Bike/Car Run, register 11:30am-12:30pm); food; entertainment; silent auction; t-shirts and bracelets. Pork sandwich meal and refreshments available.

      A portion of proceeds will go to Rich’s medical treatment and also to the New Ulm Medical Oncology Department. 

      Donations to: Bank Midwest or website: ruchfamilybenefit.com.

    1. Brown County Pheasants Forever Mentored Youth Hunt
      8:00 am – 2:30 pm

      Brown County Pheasants Forever Mentored Youth Hunt will be September 13 at 8am and will wrap up sometime early afternoon.

      Any youth age 11-15. Youth need to have a Firearm’s Safety Certificate, blaze orange clothing and gun (guns will be provided if needed). Each youth have one mentor with dog. Two birds will be planted per youth. Only youth will carry a gun.

      They will be to hunt pheasants and shoot on the sporting clay course. There will be instructors on hand to help and give shooting tips. Parents are encouraged to participate. Lunch will be served. There is no charge for this event.

      Hunting will be at River Ridge Gun Club in Courtland. The hunt is being assisted and sponsored by Sioux Trails Deer Hunters; Izaak Walton League and Der Deutsche Long Beards (NWTF).

    1. Author Jacqueline West at New Ulm Public Library
      6:00 pm – 8:00 pm

      Minnesota author Jacqueline West will share a family program at the New Ulm Public Library on Tuesday, Sept. 16 at 6 p.m. West will talk about her popular junior fiction series, “The Books of Elsewhere.” The series follows the adventures of 11-year-old Olive Dunwoody as she travels to Elsewhere, the world inside the antique paintings on the walls of the old stone house on Linden Street. Copies of “The Shadows,” the first book in the series, are available at the Children’s Desk upon request while supplies last. For more information, call the library at 507-359-8336.
