    1. Brown County Historical Society Annual Holiday Open House (all-day)
      Nov 24

The Brown County Historical Society will host its annual holiday open house at the
museum. This year the BCHS will display “The Menzel Village” for Christmas. The
village was donated by Louise Fritsche in 1983 and has been viewed and enjoyed
by all who see it ever since.

Louise and Walter Menzel created a Christmas village and invited the
neighborhood children in to see it. This was the beginning of the Menzel Village.
Louise Fritsche began collecting the figurines in 1937. Most were made in this
country, but some were bought on the Menzel’s trip to Germany and Switzerland.
One ceramic German village is more than 100 years old and other villages have
      the buildings lighted inside.

Stop in and warm up before or after the Parade of Lights. Get in the holiday spirit
with acoustic Christmas music provided by Lee Weber and hot and cold apple
cider and cookies served from 4:00 pm to 8:00 pm.
