    2. St. Francis de Sales Catholic Church Pork Chop Dinner
      5:00 pm – 7:00 pm

      St. Francis de Sales Catholic Church will be having its Annual Pork Chop Dinner on Saturday, September 20, at St. Francis de Sales Catholic Church in Winthrop from 5-7pm. 

      The menu: boneless pork chop dinner for $10 or McRib sandwich dinner for $7. There is also a limited raffle. Prizes worth $2,500.

      7:30 am – 1:30 pm

      Hector Flight Breakfast 2014 – 72nd Annual Fly-In will be held Sunday, September 21. All you can eat; free will donation; P.I.C. eat free.

      Breakfast served 7:30am-12:30pm of pancakes, French toast, eggs, sausage, coffee, juice and milk. 11:30am Ping Pong Ball Drop for kids 12 and under; lots of prizes; sponsored by Newberg Sky Spray.       Polka Worship 9:45am; followed by hog roast meal with all the trimmings; free will offering.

      Unique fun auction starting at 1pm. Something for everyone. Free coffee/bars served at auction. Take outs available.

      Fall Festival will be Sunday, September 20, at St. Canice Kilkenny.

    1. Sleepy Eye Medical Center’s Women’s Expo
      9:00 am – 1:00 pm

      Join Sleepy Eye Medical Center’s 2014 Women’s Expo on Saturday, September 27, from 9am-1pm. Come for a morning of shopping, education, socializing and healthy snacking – just for women.

      This expo will be held in the lower level community room in the Medical Center in Sleepy Eye. There will be a silent auction for gift baskets, door prizes and complimentary snacks and it’s all free. There will be over 20 vendors with a wide variety of gifts, food items and clothing on sale. Presentations will be made by Dr. Karlyn Armbruster, Dr. John Pelzel and Nurse Practitioner Sue Ahlness, who will be on hand to answer questions you may have about women’s health issues.

      10:00 am – 5:00 pm

      Church of St. Mary Fall Festival, New Ulm, will be taking place Sunday, September 28; Mass at 10am; bone-in ham and meatball dinner served 10:30am-1:30pm family style. Adults/$10; children 3-10/$4.50 and under 3/free.

      Games; crafts; refreshments; silent auction/theme baskets; bake sale; televised Vikings game; live beef raffle; outdoor food; IPad raffle; 1919 Root Beer; bingo at 12pm.

      Live entertainment provided by Jeff Wesselmann; Benny Seifert and Nick Stadick.

      Big ticket raffle drawing at 4pm; top 3 prizes are $500 cash; over 100 other prizes; total value over $6,000

    2. Great Grassroots Gathering, Sleepy Eye
      11:00 am – 5:00 pm

      Great Grassroots Gathering will be held on September 28, Allison Park, Sleepy Eye, 11am-5pm; rain or shine. 

      A celebration of our Pioneer Heritage, with crafts and food booths, flea market, displays and an afternoon of entertainment. Sponsored by the Sleepy Eye Area Historical Society.

      The Sleepy Eye Area Historical Society will be serving hamburgers, tacos in a bag, bars and cookies, chips, water and pop.

      Featured entertainment includes: The Black Diamonds Band with Donna, Deb and Leon. Starting performance at 12pm. 

      If you wish to participate by exhibiting, selling crafts or entertaining, please call 507-794-5053.

      This activity is made possible by a grant provided by the Prairie Lakes Regional Arts Council from funds appropriated  by the Minnesota State Legislature.

    3. The Harlem Ambassadors vs Your Hometown Heroes
      6:00 pm – 9:00 pm

      A night your family will never forget. The Harlem Ambassadors vs Your Hometown Heroes competing to benefit your community on Sunday, September 28, 6pm at the New Ulm Public High School Gym. All proceeds benefit Brown County Habitat for Humanity.

      Watch the Habitat for Humanity Hoopsters challenge the Harlem Ambassadors in a game of comedy basketball. Family fun for everyone! 

      Advance tickets: Adults/$10; K-12/$5 and at the door tickets: adults/$12; K-12/$8. Pre-K and under admitted free.
