    2. GARRISON KEILLOR SHOW MOVING TO VERIZON WIRELESS CENTER

      Due to potentially severe weather, GARRISON KEILLOR’S: A PRAIRIE HOME COMPANION AMERICA THE BEAUTIFUL TOUR will be moving from the Vetter Stone Amphitheater to the VERIZON WIRELESS CENTER on Wednesday, August 19, 2015.  Inclement weather is a safety hazard for show personnel, attendees, and staff.  The change of location has become necessary to be able to provide the best and safest experience possible.

      Tickets are still available for the America The Beautiful Tour, and can be purchased at the Verizon Wireless Center Ticket Office and all Ticketmaster locations.

      September 12th, 2015 at 8:00 am

      Any youth age 11-15.  Youth need to have a Firearms Safety Certificate, blaze orange clothing and gun.  (We can help with clothing and gun if needed)

      Youth will get to hunt pheasants and shoot on the Sporting Clay Course.  Each youth will be paired with a mentor and dog.  Only youth will carry a gun during the hunt.  There will be instructors on hand to help and give shooting tips.  Parents are encouraged but not required to participate.

      Lunch will be served
      Ammunition will be provided
      There is no charge for this event
      Location:  River Ridge Gun Club ~ Courtland, MN
      Event starts at 8:00 am and ends around 1:00-2:00 in the afternoon

      Come buy a Blizzard any time on Friday, September 18, 2015 at the New Ulm Dairy Queen and a portion of the amount you pay for your blizzard will go to fund Pro Kinship for Kids activities.  You will be able to enjoy a great treat and support Pro Kinship at the same time.  Bring your friends, family, or your whole neighborhood for fun!!!

      You can also bring your children or neighborhood children down to Dairy Queen this day for a real feel for what it is like to be part of Pro Kinship for Kids.  Staff and volunteers of Pro Kinship will be available to answer questions, and tell you about the program.  You can experience Pro Kinship activities from 4 – 7:30.  For donations to Pro Kinship for Kids children or any one who is a child at heart can make different craft items to take home with them and play games with us.  Here are just a few things you can do this day:

      PREPARING FOR WINTER

      SUNDAY, OCTOBER 4, 2015  1-4 PM

      Preparing for the long hard winter took the pioneers a long time.  Canning, drying,
      candle-making, soap making, cutting and getting foods stocked for themselves and
      their animals, are just a few of the things that they did.  There will be a display of 
      the equipment that the settlers used.  There will also be pictures of life on the farm 
      and their chores.  The Harkin Store carried many of the supplies and tools that they 
      used during the 1870′s.

      The store is located nine miles northwest of New Ulm on Nicollet County Road 21, 
      or the bottom road, or nine miles east of Fort Ridgely.  For more information contact
      the store when open at 1-507-354-8666 or Nicollet County Historical Society which
      operates the site at 1-507-934-2160.
