      The Lester Prairie Lion and American Legion and Auxiliary, are hosting “Music in the Park.” It will be held on June 2, 9, 16, 23, 30 and July 7. This event will be held at the Park on 2nd Ave South near the swimming pool and ball fields. Bring your lawn chairs and enjoy an evening of fun. The evening activities being at 6 pm with a light lunch, which is being put on by different local businesses or group each week for a small charge per person. Music begins at 7 pm and goes until 8:30 pm

      Silent Auction, Bake Sale

      Nathan Hilbert was critically injured in a car accident, Sept 15, 2014 along with his wife Jennifer. Jennifer was injured with broken bones and lacerations and returned back to work after 8 weeks of recovery. Nate was arilifted to Hennepin County Medical Center he had a long list of injuries including a Traumatic Brain Injury and shattered ankels, feet and a very long road to recovery. His family had been told it is a miracle he is alive. To date he has had 15 surgeries and spent 135 days in the hospital and many hours of rehab. Nate is now back home in Gibbon with his wife Jenni and daughter Shylo. He continues his rehab in New Ulm, at the Courage Kenny Center.

      Nate has a long way to go yet, but little by little with God’s help, he continues to recover.

      Glencoe’s EAA Chapter 92 is again sponsoring free airplane rides for youth ages 8-17 as part of the EAA’s Young Eagles program.

      The airplane rides will take place at the Glencoe Municipal airport on Saturday, June 13th from 8:30 am to 12:30 pm.  The rain date would the following Saturday June 20th, the same time.

    1. FLAG DAY AT THE HARKIN STORE

      FLAG DAY AT THE HARKIN STORE

      On Sunday, June 14th is our Flag Day program.  We, at the Harkin Store will be having
      information about our nation’s flag.  How did the flag start?  How has the flag evolved?
      What does the design of the flag mean?  What did the flag of the 1870′s look like?
      Our program will answer these questions.  Our program will be from 1 to 4 pm.

      Our gift shop will have items for sale.  Our shop has many different and unique items, 
      books, toys, many hand crafted items also.  The shop is open the same hours as the 
      store.

      The Harkin Store hours are from 10 to 5 pm everyday except Mondays in June, July and 
      August.  The admission to the program is included with admission to the store.

      The 1870′s store is located nine miles northwest of New Ulm on Nicollet County Road 21,
      or the bottom road, or nine miles east of Fort Ridgely.  For more information contact the

      The Art of Music Fundraiser at The Grand Center for Arts & Culture on Sunday, June 14

      Please join us this Sunday, June 14th, from 3-9PM, for our Art of Music Fundraiser. This year, there is something for the whole family and admission is free! There will be live musical entertainment throughout the day featuring local groups Lavender Town, Good Night Gold Dust, City Mouse, and The Bockfest Boys. There will be art activities for both children and adults and a bargain basement sale with lots of gems from The Grand on sale. Many silent auction gift baskets have been donated by various local businesses and there will be a live auction at 5PM. Also featured during the event in The 4 Pillars Gallery will be a gallery exhibit by New Ulm native Bob Nonnemacher: “Native American Iconic Portraits.” Other local artists will have their work on display and for sale in pop-up galleries. Food and beverage will be available for purchase, and will include Pepper Boy’s delicious pulled pork sandwiches and cold Schell’s beer.

      Men of all sorts will enjoy the program on Father’s Day, two very known men will be 
      having their interests on display and will answer any questions.  Dan Cochran from 
      Morgan, Minnesota, will have his leather craft work.  He will have a large display of 
      his work and will answer any questions, orders can be placed also.

      Pell Johnson has written several books about hunting on the Swan Lake by Nicollet.
      He will also answer questions and sign his books for visitors from 1 to 4 pm on 
      June 21.

      Any other men that would like to come and share their interest please come and 
      enjoy the afternoon.

      The 1870′s Harkin Store is open from 10 to 5 pm everyday except Mondays in June,
      July and August with a variety of programs on Sunday afternoons from 1 to 4 pm.
      Come take a trip back in time and see 40% original merchandise on the shelves
      and learn about the store and the village of West Newton.

      The gift shop will be open the same hours as the store and has many books, toys,
