−Scouting for Food Drive (all-day)Mar 16 – Mar 23
The Boy Scouts, Girl Scouts and Cub Scouts in New Ulm will have their annual Scouting for Food Drive to help fill shelves at the New Ulm Emergency Food Shelf.
The house-to-house pickup of food will take place Saturday, March 23, starting at 8:30am. Between March 16 and 20, the Scouts will deliver plastic bags to all houses in New Ulm as a reminder for residents to remember the food shelf drive.
Residents who will not be home on March 23, may leave their food donation at local churches or in the food shelf boxes at HyVee or Cash Wise. Also, the local Curves for Women business will collect donations.
These are items most in need of: peas, canned carrots, mixed vegetables, chicken noodle soup, bathroom tissue, boxes potatoes, instant oatmeal, chicken helper, tuna helper and macaroni and cheese.

The smell of corned beef and soda bread is in the air and that can only mean one. It’s time to gear up for New Ulm’s Annual St. Patrick’s Day Parade. The parade will take place on Sunday, March 17, and will step off at 5pm. This is the 48th year of the parade, making it the longest consecutive Irish parade event in the state.
The parade route will begin at 3rd South and Minnesota Streets and proceed the wrong way up Minnesota to its conclusion at the Glockenspiel. The parade will immediately be followed by teh Gathering of the Clans Banquet at Don’s Pub (knows the rest of the year at the Kaiserhoff Restaurant) with entertainment by New Ulm’s Good Will Ambassadors, the O’Concord Singers, performing traditional Irish tunes.
