      Menu: bbq’s; turkey sandwiches; potato salad; homemade baked beans; ice cream; pie; cake; lemonade; coffee.

      Sponsored by Our Savior’s WELCA. Proceeds this year are going to Renville County Heartland Express. Free will offering. Ecumenical worship service in the park at 7pm.

    1. Hot Topics Breakfast, New Ulm

      Join us on Friday, June 13, 7:30am at the New Ulm Country Club for Coalition for Active, Safe and Healthy Streets (CASHS), presentation by Cindy Walters, Heart of New Ulm Project Manager

      The mission statement for the CASHS group is promoting health by improving pedestrian and bicycle safety. The Walkable and Livable Communities report highlights six areas for improvement in New Ulm: create a school arrival and departure process; redesign Garden Street behind the school; build a mid-block crossing on Garden Street ; revitalize downtown; build trail connection; transform the intersection of Center and Garden Street.

      Sponsored by New Ulm Area Chamber of Commerce. Cost is $7/Chamber members or $9/general admission.

    2. 80th Anniversary Pow Wow, Mountain Lake
      10:00 am – 7:00 pm

      80th Anniversary Pow Wow in Mountain Lake Friday, June 13, through Tuesday, June 17.

      The Pow Wow kicks off on Friday night with the Miss Mountain Lake Pageant. Lots of tournaments throughout the weekend.  Enjoy the 41st Annual Mountain Lake Road Race, basketball tournaments, antique cars and tractor parade and show. The Kiddie Parade is Sunday and the Mountain Lake Teen Ministerial Association event will be held at 7pm Sunday night at the band shelter.

      Grand Parade featuring the Wendinger Band is on Monday at 7pm. Bob and the Beachcombers free concert in the city park at 9pm.

    3. Lake Crystal City Celebration
      10:00 am – 11:30 pm

      The Lake Crystal City Celebration will be June 13-14. 

      There will be many activities taking place, including Battle of the Bands; fireworks; beer garden; food vendors; track and field day; bean bag tournament; turtle races; pedal pull; kids crafts; J & K Amusements; carnival; concessions; canoe/kayak rides and much more. Kids Bean Bag Tourney will be held in Marston Park.

    4. Pie and Ice Cream Social, Lafayette
      5:30 pm – 7:30 pm

      St. Gregory’s Catholic Church in Lafayette is hosting a Pie and Ice Cream Social on Friday, June 13, from 5:30-7:30pm at the Lafayette Community Center in Lafayette.

      Menu: pulled pork sandwiches; hot dogs; baked beans; coleslaw; pies; desserts; ice cream; coffee; lemonade. A community band concert starts at 7:30pm.

    5. Solstice, Mankato
      9:00 pm – 9:00 pm

      Solstice, outdoor music festival will be held June 14 & 15 at Riverfront Park, Mankato. Gates open at 11am both days.

      Pre-Solstice Party with Copperhead Creek will be held Friday, June 13, 9pm. $5/cover; presented by Buster’s Sports Bar and Grill.

    1. Glencoe’s EAA Chapter 92 Airplane Rides
      8:30 am – 12:30 pm

      Glencoe’s EAA Chapter 92 is again sponsoring free airplane rides for youth ages 8-17 as part of the EAA’s Young Eagles program.

      The airplane rides will take place at the Glencoe Municipal airport on Saturday, June 14, from 8:30am-12:30pm. The rain date would be the following Saturday, June 21, the same time.

    2. 122nd Annual Bazaar, St. James
      12:00 pm – 4:00 pm

      The Albion Lutheran Church, rural St. James, will be holding their 122nd Annual Bazaar on Saturday, June 14. 

      Serving of food and craft table items begins at 12pm. The auction of quilts, homemade rugs and hand-crafted items begins at 1:30pm. Albion Lutheran Church is located 2 miles west of Godahl on Hwy 4 and then one-quarted mile north.

    3. Ceremony for the Dignified Disposal of American Flags
      7:30 pm – 9:00 pm

      The community is invited to join in a Ceremony for the Dignified Disposal of American Flags which will be held on Flag Day on Saturday, June 14, at 7:39pm at the Nicollet County Fairgrounds in St. Peter.

      The William R. Witty American Legion Post #37 will conduct this solemn ceremony honoring the American Flag in front of the grandstand at the Nicollet County Fairgrounds located at 400 West Union Street in St. Peter. Members of the American Legion Post, American Legion Auxiliary, Sons of American Legion and the Last Man’s Club of the Viet Nam War Era of St. Peter will also be a participating in the ceremony.

      This solemn ceremony will conclude with the dignified burning of unserviceable American flags. Flags can be dropped off at the American Legion during regular business hours. Flags that have been submitted to date have been properly folded and prepared for the disposal by members of Boy Scout Troop #58 of St. Peter.

      Church of St. Paul, Nicollet, Parish Festival on Sunday, June 15. Mass at 10am; Hog Roast and BBQ Chicken Dinner 10:30am-1:30pm.

      Tickets: adults (age 12 and up)/$12; children (age 5-11)/$6; children 4 and under/free. There will be a silent auction, bucket raffle and plant sale. The big raffle drawing will be at 2pm.

      Church of St. Paul, Nicollet, Parish Festival on Sunday, June 15. Mass at 10am; Hog roast and BBQ chicken dinner 10:30am-1:30pm. Tickets: adults (age 12 and up)/$12; children age 50-11/$6 children 4 and under/free. 

      There will be a silent auction, bucket raffle and plant sale. The Big Raffle drawing  will be at 2pm.

    1. St. Paul’s Lutheran Church Vacation Bible School, New Ulm
      9:00 am – 11:30 am

      St. Paul’s Lutheran Church, located at 201 North State, New Ulm, is hosting Vacation Bible School this summer, June 16-20. It starts at 9am and runs until 11:30am.

      The theme is “Dive Into God’s Word”. Each day will include Bible lessons, crafts, snacks, music and more. Please call 507-354-3641 with any questions or to register. It is a free event and all children ages 3 and up are invited to attend.

    2. Cancer Golf Tournament
      10:30 am – 6:00 pm

      The 23rd Annual American Cancer Society Charity Golf Classic will be Monday, June 16, at the New Ulm Country Club. Registration is at 10:30am and shotgun start at 11:30am. 100% of the proceeds will go towards the American Cancer Society.

      Again this year, the tournament features major prizes on selected holes for a ‘Hole in One’. This is sponsored by Ground Zero and Chuck Spaeth Ford.

      The tournament is flighted by skill level and is open to both men and women. The tournament has raised over $220,000 since its inception. Since its start, the tournament has been sponsored by several local businesses,with KNUJ AM/FM also being the anchor sponsor.

    2. 19th Annual Relay for Life of Sibley County

      The Sibley County Relay for Life for Friday has been moved to the Sibley East High School and the breakfast for tomorrow morning has been canceled. All other events are still as planned.

      19th Annual Relay for Life of Sibley County, Friday, June 20 at Sibley East Track & Field/Baseball Field in Arlington.

      Variety of vendors will be out on the track that evening. A percentage of the sales will go back to the Relay. Opening Ceremony 6pm. 4pm Sloppy Joe Dinner will be served. Registered survivors receive dinner free. Family fun for all ages.

      Show begins at 9:30am. Anyone between the ages of 7 and 21 years old the day of the show is eligible to exhibit. Entry information is available by calling Paul at 507-276-6810 or by going the MN Holstein Assn website where you can find a link to download the show info and entry forms.

    2. Summer Party Flying Dutchmen Motorcycle Club

    1. Augustana Lutheran Church Midsummer Worship, Gibbon
      9:00 am – 1:00 pm

      The Augustana Lutheran Church of Gibbon will hold its annual Midsummer Worship Service on Sunday, June 22, at the Clear Lake Lutheran Church, located on Sibley County Road 8, between Lafayette and Gibbon.

      Following the service at Clear Lake, there will be a dinner at the Augustana Church in Gibbon. Dinner includes: grilled chicken breasts, potato salad, beans, dinner rolls, beverage and assorted desserts. Dinner will be served from 11am-1pm, with a free will offering being taken.

    2. Team-C FUNdraising Event
      12:00 pm – 5:00 pm

      Team-C FUNdraising Event will be held at St. Francis Catholic Church, Winthrop, on Sunday, June 22, from 12-5pm for Corrine (Sloot) Fierkens.

      Food – roast hog and bison; free will offering; games and prizes for all ages; face painting; live music; matching grant by Thrivent Financial – Nicollet and Sibley Chapters. 

      Some of the auction items include: one week stay at cabin in NW Wisconsin on Trade Lake and signed book by cabinologist Dale Mulfinger; sports memorabilia; 3 hours of professional house cleaning; fur coat; gift baskets; 1 Drone flight of 100 acres with pictures; 3 hours of home design or remodel consulting by architect and much more.

      Corrine (Sloot) Fierkens, daughter of John and Minnie Sloot is a Winthrop native. She is battling Stage 4 Breast Cancer.

      In observance of the July 4th holiday and holiday weekend, the Brown County Heartland Express will not be operating on Friday, July 4 or Sunday, July 6. The transit office will also be closed on Friday, July 4.

      Regular transit services will resume on Monday, July 7. To schedule rides for Monday, July 7, patrons are requested to call the transit office no later than 3pm on Thursday, July 3 at 359-2717 or countywide at 1-800-707-2717.
