    1. MN Music Hall of Fame Parade of Bands, New Prague
      12:00 pm – 6:00 pm

      Minnesota Music Hall of Fame, Inc. Parade of Bands Fundraiser & Concertina Jamboree will be held Sunday, January 12, 12-6pm, Park Ballroom, New Prague.

      Food and beverages available. Entertainment: 12-1pm Czech Area Concertina Club; 1:10-2:40pm Charlie Sticha Band; 2:50-4:20pm The Revival Band; 4:30-6pm Wendinger Band. Bands are subject to change.

      Concertina Jamboree 1pm in the Ballroom Meeting Room. Nancy Buckentine, Master of Ceremonies & Nancy Brooks, registrations. Featuring Bob Pexa and Steve Moran and friends on drums and tuba.

    1. Pancake Breakfast, St. John’s Catholic Church, Hector
      9:00 am – 1:00 pm

      St. John’s Catholic Church in Hector is having their annual Pancake Breakfast on Sunday, January 19. The men of our parish will be serving at the American Bar and Grill (formerly the American Legion) in Hector from 9am-1pm.

      The menu includes pancakes, French toast, ham and eggs, applesauce and beverage. Cost is $6/adults; $3/children 5-10; and free for children 4 and under.

      Presented by the MN Historical Society and Schell’s Brewing Co. Minnesota Beer and Brewing History on Tuesday, January 21, 7pm at the Gaylord Library. 

      Learn about MN’s rich brewing tradition and enjoy free beer sampling provided by Schell’s. Remember to sign up for the Winter Reading Program starting January 21.

    1. New Ulm Sons of American Legion Supper
      5:00 pm – 7:30 pm

      The New Ulm Sons of American Legion are presenting Homemade Roast Beef or Turkey Commercials on Wednesday, January 22, from 5-7:30pm or until gone at the New Ulm American Legion Clubroom.

      Full or half orders will be available, as well as milk, coffee or water. The cost is $6.75 for a full order and $4.25 for a half order.

      Friday, January 24, from 1-4pm at the New Ulm Vogel Arena. $10/fee admits participants for all activities: inflatable action, swimming and gym games. Punch cards and memberships do not apply.

      Co-sponsored by Optimist Club, Jaycees, RS Electric, Inc. and United Prairie Bank.

    1. Snowmobile Safety Class, St. James
      8:00 am – 4:00 pm

      The Watonwan County Sheriff’s Office is sponsoring the following Snowmobile Safety Class on January 25, from 8am-4pm at the Watonwan Public Library, 125 5th Street South, St. James. 

      Youth must be 11 years of age before the class start date in order to be eligible to take the class. Pre-registration is required by obtaining a study cd before 1-25-14 by calling 507-375-2579. Class size is limited, so register early.

    2. Community Family Fun Night, New Ulm
      4:30 pm – 9:00 pm

      Community Family Fun Night – Escape the Winter Blues on Saturday, January 25, at Holy Trinity Gym, 515 North State, New Ulm for Food, Games and Talent Show. Food served 4:30-6:45pm; Games from 5-6:45pm; Talent Show 6:30pm. Admission for the talent show is $5/adults; $3/students with a family cap of $15.

      There will be a Carnival of Games including Kid’s Raffle; Surprise Door Game; Plunk-It; Fish Pond; Bean Bag Toss; Cherry Tree; Face Painting; Bingo; Food featuring tacos in a bag, chicken strips, bbq pork, Happy Joe’s pizza and more.

    3. Ducks Unlimited Banquet, Winthrop

      Ducks Unlimited 9th Annual Arhart’s Mallards Banquet will be held Saturday, January 25, at Tanker Bay Sports Bar in Winthrop.

      See breeds of pigeons as a few ounces to breeds of several pounds. Or as small as a few inches to 20 inches tall.

      This is a great opportunity to stop in and find out more about the resources we have to offer in our library. Get started on your family history or meet others who may be able to help you overcome any research roadblocks.

      11am – Wade Olsen will present a slide show on the historic Kladbury Monastery.

      1:30pm – Wade will present a review of the 2013 June tour and outline the plan for the Fall Tour.

      The Hamburg Hunting and Fishing Club is having their 35th Annual Fish Fry on Saturday, February 1, at the Hamburg Community Hall. It’s all you can eat from 11am-7pm.

      Fasching will be held on Saturday, March 1, noon – 10pm at Turner Hall.     8. Snow Day in the Park, New Ulm

      Snow Day in the Park will be held Saturday, February 1, 12-4pm at Harmon Park, 101 North Garden Street, New Ulm.

      Horse-drawn sleigh rides; S’mores over a fire and hot cocoa; 3 skating rinks and warming house; sliding hill (bring your own sled).

    9. Snowfest, New Ulm
      5:30 pm – 11:45 pm

      Snowfest 2014 will be a night to remember! Come to Snowfest on Saturday, February 1, at New Ulm Area Catholic Schools. 

      Come to Snowfest and have the opportunity to bid on one of the largest silent auctions in the area; try your luck on games of chance; dine on delicious food and socialize with friends. All proceeds from the event benefit NUACS.

      Dinner will be served from 5:30-7pm in the Holy Trinity Cafeteria. Bingo will be held from 7-8:30pm. There will also be multiple raffles, pull-tabs, a bake sale, games of chance and both a Live and Silent Auction. The Live Auction begins around 9pm, with the Big Ticket drawing following.

      This event is open to the public.

    10. Super Sunday Benefit Brunch
      5:30 pm – 12:30 pm

      Super Sunday Benefit Brunch will be held Sunday, February 2, from 8:15am-12:30pm at St. Mary’s School Cafeteria, Sleepy Eye.

      Adults/$6; ages 5-12/$3; under 5/free. Serving scrambled eggs with smoked ham; golden potatoes; famous KC donuts; milk; coffee; juice sponsored by the Knights of Columbus Council #3134.

      Proceeds benefit Divine Providence Auxiliary.

      There will also be a CCW Scholarship Bake Sale Saturday after 5:30pm Mass and Sunday 7:30am-12:30pm at St. Mary’s School Cafeteria. Serving Schmierkuchen; caramel rolls; cinnamon rolls.

      The Church of the Japanese Martyrs in Leavenworth is having a Catholic United Financial Matching Grant Pancake Breakfast on Sunday, February 2, serving 9am-12pm in the church hall.

      Serving pancakes; scrambled eggs; sausage; applesauce; coffee; chocolate milk and juice. Cost $6/adults; $5/ages 6-12; $1.50/preschool.

    2. Winter Brunch, Gibbon
      9:00 am – 12:00 pm

      Sunday, February 2, from 9am-12pm, a Winter Brunch will be held at St. Willibrord’s Catholic Church in Gibbon.

      The menu will include cheesy eggs, sausages, fresh fruit, homebaked muffins, rolls and beverages.

      Proceeds will go to St. Willibrord’s Parish Youth who are fundraising for youth trips.

    3. Gibbon Sportsmen’s Club Pollock Fish Fry

      Gibbon Sportsmen’s Club Pollock Fish Fry will be held Saturday, February 2, 11am-4pm at Clear Lake Club Grounds, 5 miles south of Gibbon.
