    1. FLC Holiday Craft and Bake Sale
      9:00 am – 12:30 pm

      The First Lutheran Church of Lafayette Annual Holiday Craft and Bake Sale will be held at the church on Saturday, November 17, from 9am-12:30pm. There will also be Scandanavian Food Tasting, Country Store items and a drawing for a beautiful handmade quilt will take place at noon.

      Enjoy a cup of freshly made ‘egg’ coffee and coffee cake from 9-10:30am. A soup and sandwich lunch will be served from 10:30am-12:30pm.

    2. Morton Lions Turkey Bingo
      6:30 pm – 7:30 pm

      Morton Lions Turkey Bingo on Saturday, November 17, starting at 6:30pm at Morton City Hall.

      Play 20 games for $5; plus 2 bonus games. Snacks and refreshments will be available.

      10:30 am – 1:00 pm

      25th Annual Men’s Ham Dinner at St. Mary’s Church, New Ulm, Sunday, November 18, 10:30am-1pm.

      Serving ham, potatoes, corn, coleslaw, ice cream, beverages, buffet style. Prepared by the Men of St. Mary’s Parish. Adults/$9; children ages 12 and under/$4.50. Take out available. There will be a bake sale and raffle. Hams prepared by The Backerei.

    1. Pose Your Pet With Santa
      6:00 pm – 7:00 pm

      KNUJ morning radio personality Brian Filzen will serve as the special guest cashier at the Brown County Humane Society’s Annual “Pose Your Pet With Santa” event on Tuesday, November 20. The event will take place at Shayds of Color at 2 South Minnesota in New Ulm and will run from 6-7pm.

      Although walk-ins are welcome, appointments are appreciated. Appointments can be made by calling Shayds of Color 507-354-1120. The cost of each photo is $20, with proceeds going to the Brown County Humane Society. Please have your pet on a leash and restrained before and after the photo sitting. Come and meet Brian Filzen and make a Christmas memory of your pet.

    1. Brown County Heartland Express (all-day)
      Nov 22

      The Brown County Heartland Express transit service will NOT be operating on Thanksgiving Day.

      However, the Brown County Heartland Express will be operating and the transit office will be open as usual the day after Thanksgiving on Friday, November 25.

      To arrange for a ride this coming Friday, you’re asked to call the Heartland Express office no later than 3pm on Wednesday, November 21 at 359-2717 or 1-800-707-2717 .

    2. Brown County Offices Closed Thanksgiving & Friday (all-day)
      Nov 22 – Nov 23

      All Brown County offices will be closed on Thursday and Friday, November 22 and 23 for the observance of the Thanksgiving weekend.

    1. Life on the River Presentation at New Ulm Library
      6:00 pm – 7:00 pm

      Join photographer and lecturer Ron Bouldan for a pictorial trip through Minnesota River Valley on Tuesday, November 27, at 6pm at New Ulm Public Library. Prairies, wetlands, hardwood stands and wildlife – boating, hunting, fishing and festivals – all are part of life on the river and all are captured by the camera lens.

      Ron is a board member of the Minnesota River Valley National Scenic Byway Alliance, curator of the Regional River History Center of New Ulm and director of the River Ranger Program. He has spent 20 years photographing the Minnesota River basin and he is eager to share his adventure.

    1. Christmas in Christ Chapel, Gustavus (all-day)
      Nov 30 – Dec 2

      Christmas in Christ Chapel, the annual holiday tradition at Gustavus Adolphus College, will be held November 30-December 2, and is themed “Jubilee: Proclaiming the Year of the Lord’s Favor”. The college will be celebrating two anniversaries during this year’s celebration as it is the 40th year of Christmas in Christ Chapel and the 50th Year – the Jubliee Year – of Christ Chapel.

      Dates and times of services for Christmas in Christ Chapel are:

      Friday, November 30 at 7:30pm; Saturday, December 1 at 3:30pm and 7:30pm and Sunday, December 2 at 3:30pm and 7:30pm

      A limited number of tickets remain for this year’s Christmas in Christ Chapel services. Tickets are $25 apiece and can be purchased online at gustavustickets.com or by calling the Gustavus Office of Marketing and Communication at 507-933-7520 .

    2. Santa is Coming to Courtland
      1:00 pm – 3:00 pm

      Santa is Coming to the Courtland Community Center on Saturday, December 1, 1-3pm. Kids visit with Santa and register to win 1 of 4 bikes.

      Sleigh rides with or without snow; decorate your own Christmas cookie; bring your camera for a photo with Santa Claus; bring a food item for the food shelf.

      This event is sponsored by the Courtland Lions.

      New Ulm American Legion Unit 132 Junior Auxiliary is sponsoring Cozy Kids for Christmas Event and Visit with Santa on Saturday, December 1, 2-4pm.

      Bring a new hat, mitten or scarf and proceeds will be given to Santa’s Closet.

    5. NUACT Presents ‘Murder at the Spoke & Wheel Club’

      ‘Murder at the Spoke & Wheel Club’ is sponsored by the New Ulm Rotary Club and features local actors from NUACT. All proceeds from this event will go to benefit the Foundation for Saving Sight for their work in San Lucas Guatemala.

      Creche Fest will take place Thursday, December 6, and Friday, December 7, 1:30-7:30pm at Centennial Lutheran Church, 701 Locust Street, Henderson. View over 200 Creche and Angel Displays.

      Hymn Fest will be 7:30pm Thursday; hymns, carols and stories about the Christ Child. 8:30pm – view Creche’s with fellowship and refreshments.

    4. South Central Collegiate DECA Chapter Dinner
      5:00 pm – 7:30 pm

      The South Central Collegiate DECA Chapter, in collaboration with the U.S. Marine Corps League, is hosting the 4th Annual Spaghetti Dinner from 5-7:30pm on Thursday, December 6 at South Central College Heritage Hall.

      All proceeds from the dinner will benefit the Toys for Tots Campaign. Cost for the dinner is $5/per plate; children 5 and under/$3.

    1. Sleepy Eye Pride Silent Auction (all-day)
      Dec 7

      Sleepy Eye Pride (Positive Behavior Intervention Supports Team) will be hosting a silent auction on Friday, December 7, at Sleepy Eye Public School.

      This program, it its second year of implementation, fosters safe, responsible and respectful behavior in students. The money raised through the auction will be used to help promote positive behavior in both the school and within the community. Sleepy Eye Pride invites the community to attend the silent auction beginning at 6pm in the high school.

      The auction features items from Minnesota Zoo, Chanhassen Theatre, the Ordway, Minnesota Swarm, Minnesota Vikings, Minnesota Twins, Wild, Minnesota Timberwolves and many local and area businesses. This event is being held in conjunction with a doubleheader basketball game featuring Sleepy Eye Public girls and boys versus Nicollet, the bidding will conclude during the second half of the second game.

    2. Annual Cookie Sale & Bazaar, New Ulm
      10:30 am – 1:00 pm

      Annual Cookie Sale and Bazaar on Friday, December 7, from 10:30am-1pm at Redeemer Lutheran Church, 700 South Broadway, New Ulm.

      There will be lunch, cookies, crafts, baked goods and candies.

    3. Fairmont Opera House
      7:30 pm – 8:30 pm

      The Fairmont Opera House is pleased to announce an upcoming performance. DALA will be appearing on Friday, December 7, at 7:30pm, with the Bar/Box Office opening at 6:30pm.

      DALA features vocal harmonies guaranteed to give you chills. Duo members Sheila Carabine and Amanda Walther also make use of their considerable talents on guitar and grand piano to create a unique brand of acoustic pop. Their fun and energetic stage presence has made DALA a fan favorite as festivals across the country. They will also be playing traditional Christmas music as well as songs they have written.

      The Calvary Lutheran Church in Rapidan will be having a Cookie Sale on December 8 & 9. Walk around to choose your cookies for $10/box. They will be having live, holiday music while you are picking your cookies.

    2. Brown County Humane Society Bake & Craft Sale
      9:30 am – 12:00 pm

      The Brown County Humane Society will hold their annual Christmas Bake and Craft Sale on Saturday, December 8, from 9:30am-12pm at Oak Hills Living Center, located at 1314 8th North Street, New Ulm.

      The sale includes a number of Christmas baked goods and craft items. Also, the Brown County Humane Society cookbooks are available for $10/each, plus tax, if you purchase three or more.

      All the funds are used to support the day-to-day operations of the Humane Society. Anyone wishing to donate baked goods or items for the event can drop them off at the shelter on Friday, December 7.

      Cookies are $3.50/dozen. A lunch will be served of BBQ sandwiches, pickles, chips and apple cider.


    4. American Legion Ladies Auxiliary Holiday Fair, New Ulm
      10:00 am – 1:00 pm

      American Legion Ladies Auxiliary Holiday Fair on Saturday, December 8, at the New Ulm American Legion, 13 S Minnesota, New Ulm.

      There will be a bake sale and curiosity shop beginning at 10am. Lunch served from 10:30am-1pm.

    5. Christmas in Hanska
      10:00 am – 1:00 pm

      Christmas in Hanska will be Saturday, December 8, at the Hanska Community Center from 10am-1pm.

      Upstairs, the City of Hanska will be hosting cash and carry vendors. Hanska Community Library will be having a book fair.

      Hanska Women of Today’s Santa Visit will be 10am-11:30am. Goodie bags for all children; visit with Santa from 10am-11:30am; enter a drawing for a turkey and cookie dough; cookies and refreshments will be served.

      There will be a drop off box for New Ulm Sertoma’s Club Santa’s Closet project and food for Brown County Food Shelf.

      Catholic United Financial Matching Grant Fundraiser, sponsored by St. Mary’s Catholic United Financial Council in Sleepy Eye is having a Dinner and Bake Sale on Sunday, December 9.

      Bake Sale starting at 8am. Swiss steak dinner serving from 10:30am-12:30pm at St. Mary’s School Cafeteria. Meal includes Swiss steak, mashed potatoes, gravy, dressing, carrots, coleslaw, dessert and beverage. Carry outs available.

      All proceeds donated to the Parish Education Program plus a Catholic Aid Matching Grant of up to $1,000.
