    1. PRO KINSHIP FOR KIDS – DAIRY QUEEN BLIZZARD DAY (all-day)
      Jul 14

      Come buy a Blizzard any time on Tuesday, July 14 2015 at the New Ulm Dairy Queen and a portion of the amount you pay for your blizzard will go to fund Pro Kinship for Kids activities.  You will be able to enjoy a great treat and support Pro Kinship at the same time.  Bring your friends, family, or your whole neighborhood for fun!!!

      You can also bring your children or neighborhood children down to Dairy Queen this day for a real feel for what it is like to be part of Pro Kinship for Kids.  Staff and volunteers of Pro Kinship will be available to answer questions, and tell you about the program.  You can experience Pro Kinship activities from 4 – 7:30.  For donations to Pro Kinship for Kids children or any one who is a child at heart can make different craft items to take home with them and play games with us.  Here are just a few things you can do this day:

      *Decorate your own Foam Art Picture Frame                *Get your Face Painted                 *Play Ring Toss, Bean Bag Toss & Fish Bowl To

    1. Bavarian Blast 5K-10K Run/Walk – NU Civic Center
      8:00 am – 9:00 am

      Bavarian Blast 5K-10K Run/Walk 

      The New Ulm American Legion and KNUJ/SAM are the primary sponsors for this years Bavarian Blast 5K – 10K run/walk, to be held Saturday, July 18th.   The race will begin at 9 am from the New Ulm Civic Center.

      Pre-registration can be done on line at www.itsyourrace.com .   Pre-registration participating fee is $25, and if done prior to July 5th, a run/walk T-Shirt is guaranteed.   Registration can also be done beginning at 8 am the day of the event for a $30 fee.

      Teams of five or more are encouraged, and if registered by July 5th, they will get their own personal color team shirt. 

      Proceeds from the event will go towards New Ulm American Legion Community Youth projects.

    1. TRIAD – Monthly Meeting

      The monthly meeting of TRIAD will be held in Searles at the Searles Bar and Grill on July 21 at 10:00 a.m.  The speaker this month is Jay Vansicke from the Sturms Funeral Home in Sleepy Eye.  This will be a good opportunity to learn about funeral arrangements and ask any questions you may have.  Local law enforcement will also be on hand about the latest scams.

      Refreshments will be served and everyone is welcome to come.

    2. Nicollet County Historical Society “Coffee on the Patio”

      Please join the Nicollet County Historical Society for its monthly “Coffee on the Patio” series on Tuesday, July 21st, at 10:00am to drink coffee and talk about local history! 

      This month’s topic is the history of the State Hospital and we invite you to come by to share any memories or stories you might have about the institution.

      We’ll be gathering at the Treaty Site History Center, just north of St. Peter off of Highway 169.

      Coffee and a light snack will be provided.  There is no cost to participate.  We hope to see you there!

    1. ANNUAL PARISH DINNER AND FESTIVAL (all-day)
      Jul 26

      The Church of the Japanese Martyrs in Leavenworth, MN is holding their ANNUAL PARISH
      DINNER AND FESTIVAL on Sunday, July 26, 2015. We are located 10 miles southwest of
      Sleepy Eye on County Highway 24.

      The day will begin with a 9:30 a.m. mass, followed by a buffet style chicken and ham dinner.
      Dinner is served in the air-conditioned church hall and is available from 11:00 a.m. until 1:30
      p.m. Take out orders are available. The menu includes chicken, dressing, mashed potatoes
      and gravy, corn, cole slaw, beverage and ice cream. Ticket prices are as follows:
      Adult – $10.00; ages 6-12 – $5.00; ages 5 & under – $1.00.

      The festival is held RAIN or SHINE and we have something for everyone. Live music, raffles,
      games for all ages, bingo, a country store, kids pedal pull at 2:30pm, and food stand and
      refreshments. A softball tournament takes place the entire weekend.

      Everyone is welcome to come and enjoy the day with family and friends.

    1. University of Minnesota Extension Summer Field Day – Bode Dairy and Feedlot

      University of Minnesota Extension will be holding a summer field day at Bode Dairy and Feedlot,
      66546 240th St, Gibbon, MN on July 30

      Registration begins at 10:00 am with the program starting at 10:30 and concluding with lunch.

      Bode Dairy and Feedlot is an innovative three generation farm that is milking 600 cows. The
      have grown slowly since 1994 with the latest expansion in 2012. In 2011 they installed a
      separator and have been using the solids for bedding in the stalls. They also have been
      successfully raising calves for several years with automated calf feeders. Some of most recent
      updates have focused on improving energy efficiency. These include installing LED lighting in
      the dairy barn, and variable speed vacuum, well and milk pumps.

      Family members will discuss how to achieve high production through success employee
      management and keys making multi-genertation farms work. University of Minnesota
      Extension personnel will discuss considerations when signing up for MPP for 2016.

      This program is supported by Minnesota Dairy Initiative. Lunch will be provided and is
      sponsored by Form-A-Feed. There is no charge for attending. For more information contact Jim
