Job Description.....Sales Opening
What: Sales position, based out of New Ulm office. Work basically 8-5, M-F, with occasional nights or weekends for station functions.
Where: This position includes an established account list in New Ulm, and a outside sales a territory that includes Springfield and other towns in our western area. There is a solid base already in place on this sales account list!
Who do we want to hire? Someone with sales experience, outgoing, radio background…. but we are willing to train in all situations-if the right person with the right personality, attitude and work ethic applies.
What is involved in the position? Selling of radio time, servicing accounts with copy changes, etc…., and collecting of unpaid bills (this does not happen often).
You become a representative of our station to your clients and their community.
We sell short term, medium term, and long-term advertising programs/packages to our clients. Our business is to help bring customers to our clients…and for them to make money.!!
You will sell both KNUJ AM, SAM 107.3/KNUJ FM, and KNUJ.net. KNUJ is a Full Service information station, while SAM is a Adult Hits music station., that also simulcasts with KNUJ AM in the early morning. Both stations are part of our Home Town Radio efforts. We pride ourselves in being Community based stations. We broadcast local sports, and many other local broadcasts on both stations.
KNUJ also is involved in many Non Tradition Revenue ventures, from Bridal Fairs, to Job Fairs, Farm City Days, and many trips and tours held throughout the year.
KNUJ.net is a fast emerging web site center for Southern Minnesota. KNUJ.net, is a extention of KNUJ, and of the lifestyle found in the KNUJ area. This product is becoming a key part of our sales and programming offerings. We currently ‘stream’ KNUJ programming on-line 24/7.
You will report to the Sales Manager, and also to the General Manager of the radio stations.
We hold weekly sales meetings. Sales Goals are set each month. We brainstorm as a team to come up with good selling programs…. and plans much of our years efforts at ‘Strategic Sales Planning Meetings’ each year!
Compensation: We start new reps out with a Guarantee, and then review their progress after 3 months. Sales reps will eventually be moved to a Draw Against Commission, with a 20% commission being paid on what is collected for the month.
