Road Closure for County Road 12 Extension Project
The following roads will be closed beginning Thursday July 20, 2017 as part of the County Road 12 Extension project.

  • ·         T.H. 83 – at the 586th Avenue / County Road 41 intersection
  • ·         Hoffman Road – east of Prairie Winds Drive roundabout to 586th Avenue / Carver Road
  • ·         586th Avenue / Carver Road – between Blue Earth County Justice Center and T.H. 83

Drivers should expect T.H 83 to be closed until September.  Hoffman Road and 586th Avenue / Carver Road will remain closed until November.  Motorists are encouraged to use the posted detour route for the T.H. 83 closure or find alternate routes.

This 2-mile project includes a new roadway alignment between County Road 17 and 586th Avenue / Carver Road, a new roundabout at Hoffman Road and 586th Avenue / Carver Road, a new roundabout at T.H. 83 and 586th Avenue / County Road 41, roundabout lighting, and a bituminous trail.  The work will consist of grading, replacing centerline and drainage pipes within the right of way, placing new gravel base, placing curb & gutter and a new bituminous pavement. 

Residents and landowners are encouraged to contact the Blue Earth County Public Works Department to coordinate access concerns with the County and the Contractor, OMG Midwest, Inc. dba Southern Minnesota Construction.  For more information on the County Road 12 project please contact the Blue Earth County Highway Department at (507) 304-4025.

 

County Road 109 Road Closure 

County Road 109 between County Road 6 and County Road 11, in Butternut Valley Township, will be closed for reconstruction beginning the week of July 17, 2017.  Drivers should expect this portion of County Road 109 to be closed until fall.  Motorists are encouraged to find alternate routes.

This 3.1-mile project includes re-grading to widen shoulders, replacing centerline and drainage pipes within the right of way, and placing new gravel base.  A bituminous pavement will be added over the entire project in 2018.

Driver and Vehicle Services Limited During Computer System Replacement

Area residents who need to renew license plates tabs, transfer titles or complete other vehicle-related transactions should note limited services on July 20th and 21st when the Minnesota Dept. of Public Safety Driver and Vehicle Services division (DPS-DVS) upgrades and replaces the vehicle services computer system. 

Blue Earth County will have limited services available on July 20th and July 24th.  Services not available include tab renewal, plate replacement, and title application.  Blue Earth County’s entire license center will be closed all day on July 21st.  This includes all services such as driver’s licenses and identification cards, Dept. of Natural Resources transactions, and birth, death and marriage transactions.

In preparation of the limited services, the Blue Earth County license center will have extended hours on July 17ththrough July 19th.  Extended office hours will be 8 AM to 6:30 PM.
