Razzle Apple Streusel Bars
2 c. Quaker Oats, uncooked, old fashioned or quick
2 ½ c all-purpose flour
1 ¼ c. sugar
2 tsp. baking powder
1 c margarine or butter, melted
3 c. apples, peeled and thinly sliced
2 Tbsp. all-purpose flour
12 oz jar (1 cup) raspberry preserves
Heat oven to 375 degrees. For crust and streusel topping, combine oats, flour, sugar and baking powder and mix well. Add margarine, mixing until moistened.
Reserve 2 cups and set aside. Press remaining oat mixture onto bottom of 9 x 13 baking pan. Bake 15 minutes. For filling, combine apples, flour and stir in preserves. Spread onto crust to within ½ inch of edge. Sprinkle with reserved oat mixture, pressing lightly. Bake 30-35 minutes or until light golden brown. Makes 2 dozen.

1 pkg. Fritos (9 ¼ oz)
1 cup sugar
1 cup corn syrup
1 cup peanut butter
Put 1 pkg of Fritos in greased jelly roll pan. Boil sugar and corn syrup.
Add peanut butter. Pour over Fritos. Sprinkle chocolate chips over top. Enjoy!
Third Place – Michele Schroeder, Courtland
Out of This World Brownies
1 cup butter, softened
2 cups sugar
2 tsp vanilla extract
2 cups all-purpose flour
¼ cup plus 3 tbsp. baking cocoa
1/8 tsp salt
Brown Butter Frosting:
½ cup butter
4 cups confectioners’ sugar
¼ cup plus 2 tsp half & half cream
2 tsp. vanilla extract
1 square (1 oz) unsweetened chocolate
1 Tbsp butter
In a mixing bowl, cream butter and sugar. Add the eggs, one at a time, beating well after each addition. Beat in vanilla. Combine flour, cocoa, and salt; gradually add to the creamed mixture. Spread into a greased 9 x 13 inch baking pan.
Bake at 350 degrees for 25-30 minutes or until a toothpick inserted near the center comes out clean. Do not over bake. Cool on a wire rack.
For the frosting, in a heavy saucepan, cook and stir butter over medium heat for 5-7 minutes or until golden brown. Pour into a mixing bowl; beat in confectioners’ sugar, cream and vanilla. Frost cooled brownies

2016 Homemade Bar Contest
Rules and Guidelines:
- Bars must be made from scratch by the entrant in a “home” kitchen. No box mixes.
- Bars must be ready for judging at entry time.
- Please provide 6-8 2” bars.
- Disposable containers (paper plate with saran wrap) should be used. No containers will be returned. Bars become property of KNUJ Radio at entry time.
- Recipe without entrant’s name should be submitted with the bars.
- Entrants will be asked to sign a release form allowing KNUJ to use the entry bars, recipes, photos, etc. of the bar contest for promotional reasons.
- Employees of KNUJ and their immediate family are not eligible to participate.
Bars should be delivered to KNUJ Studio in New Ulm on Wednesday, November 9th between 8:30 to 4:30 or to the to the Youth Coliseum on the Brown County Fairgrounds on Thursday, November 10th during the Farm-City Day Celebration. Bars need to be entered by 8:00 AM. Results of the bar contest will be available after 9:30 AM.
