Madelia man arrested while parked in the middle of roadway 04 Sep 18

A Madelia man is facing DWI and Drug Possession charges after parking and blocking the intersection of County Road 24 on Highway 15 on Friday at 11:00 p.m. The Brown County Sheriff’s Department found that the black two-door Pontiac belonged to 50-year-old David Uhde. Court documents say that the Deputy asked Uhde to pull over to the side of the road but he instead parked in the lane of County Road 24. The Deputy reported that Uhde had a tough time gathering his license and insurance information and was inconsistent as to why he was parked in the middle of the road. The Deputy asked him to perform a sobriety test, the report says during which Uhde would forget what he was doing. Deputies conducted a car search where they found a methamphetamine pipe and small amount of a white, crystal like substance, which later tested positive as methamphetamine.  Uhde faces a maximum sentence of 7 years in prison, a $14,000 fine, or both for the DWI charge and 5 years in prison, a $10,000 fine, or both for the drug possession charges.
