Political ads not permitted on state rights-of-way 03 Aug 18

The Minnesota Department of Transportation is reminding those running for political office that state law prohibits placement of private signs on highway rights-of-way.  Signs also may not be placed on private land without consent of the landowner.  Violation of this law is a misdemeanor.  Civil penalties may also apply if the placement of such material contributes to a motor vehicle crash, injures a person or causes damage to a vehicle that runs off the road.
