Redwood County Commissioners declare a state of emergency 10 Jul 18

While rain was flooding streets, basements and businesses early on July 3rd in Redwood County, the Commissioners during a regularly scheduled meeting adopted a resolution declaring a state of emergency in the county. With the ground already in Saturday by previous rains, the water had nowhere to go. Redwood County Emergency Management Director Jim Sandgren requested the state of emergency declaration retroactive to June 16th through the present due to a pattern of heavy rainfall and flooding. Sandgren reported to commissioners that the damage to fields, roads and bridges is significant. The state of emergency declaration provides the county an opportunity to submit a request for financial assistance to the state.
