St. James Police Department identifies victims of shooting 18 Jun 18

The St. James Police Department has identified the victims in a fatal shooting Saturday evening on the 1100 block of First Avenue. 67-year-old Joyce Ann Englebrecht, the wife of the arrested suspect, suffered from a gunshot to the head. She was taken to Mayo Clinic Health Systems in St. James and airlifted to St. Mary’s Hospital in Rochester. She did not survive the incident. The second victim, 43-year-old Rachel Elaine Linder was found deceased on the front steps of a neighbor’s house at 1120 First Avenue south. Linder is the daughter of Joyce Engelbrecht from a previous marriage. Authorities arrested 61-year-old Scott Francis Engelbrecht. He is being held in the Watonwan County Jail on charges of 2nd degree murder. The Minnesota Bureau of Criminal Apprehension and the Watonwan County Sheriff’s Department are assisting with the investigation.
