Hospital in Springfield struggling to recruit doctors 23 Jun 18

Recently two doctors submitted their resignations and physician recruitment has been challenging for Mayo Clinic Health Systems in Springfield. Medical Director Dr. Kelsey Nylander turned in her resignation to pursue an opportunity in South Dakota that will allow her to spend more time with her family and three children. In addition, LeRoy Hodges, Springfield’s outreach surgeon has resigned to accept a position closert to family in Georgia. This leaves one doctor in Springfield. The current model of care in Springfield is unsustainable. Officials say they are not planning to close the hospital at this point.
