Authorities continue search for Sleepy Eye man 05 Jun 18

On Monday the Brown County Sheriff’s Office resumed search and recovery efforts in the Vincent Mathiowetz missing person case. Sheriff’s Deputies were on the water with a river boat using side sonar to identify points of interest as well as recovery tools to attempt to locate the Sleepy Eye man. Northstar Search and Rescue assisted in search efforts on land and water with handlers and K-9s. The tracking and cadaver dogs all gave strong indication that Matiowetz is in the water. Strong currents and low water visibility as well as river debris are hampering the search and recovery efforts. The Brown County Sheriff’s Office will resume search efforts again today (Tuesday) concentrating on the area 3-and-a-half miles south of Sleepy Eye and the Cottonwood River. Mathiowetz was reported missing by family members on Thursday June 3rd. His pickup was found near the Cottonwood River Landing near Sleepy Eye that same afternoon.
