Scammer impersonates law officer 24 May 18

A Louisiana man has scammed a Sibley County resident after he allegedly impersonated a Sibley County Sheriff’s Lieutenant.  A resident reported that he was contacted by a caller who identified himself by the name of a real Lieutenant.  The caller said the resident had a warrant out for his arrest for failing to appear for jury duty.  The caller demanded $1000 to resolve the warrants.  The resident made the payment using a money transfer using MoneyPak cards.  Another Sheriff investigator learned the money was transferred to Kennan Andre Miles of New Orleans.  Miles was charged in Sibley County Court Tuesday with theft by swindle and a warrant has been issued for his arrest and extradition to Minnesota.
