Marshall man flips car and remains trapped for several hours 21 May 18

The Renville County Sheriff’s Office received a report of a vehicle rolled over near the intersection of County Road 9 and North Street in Sacred Heart shortly before 7:30 a.m. Sunday morning. Responders on scene located a 2002 Chevrolet Monte Carlo on its roof near the railroad crossing on County Road 9. The driver, 24-year-old Ian Mariner of Marshall reported that he was driving the vehicle north on County Road 9 when a tire blew causing him to lose control of the vehicle and crash into the rail at a high rate of speed. The vehicle then rolled into the ditch. Mariner was extricated from the vehicle and flow to North Memorial Hospital in Robbinsdale with what were believed to be non-life threatening injuries. It is believed that Mariner failed to stop for a stop sign at County Road 9 and US Highway 212. A preliminary crash investigation revealed Mariner likely crashed around 4:30 a.m. that morning and was trapped in the vehicle for several hours before someone driving past located him.
