Good progress on planting 25 May 18

This week brought warm and dry conditions to the area.  This enabled farmers to make good progress on planting and corn fields are starting to turn the landscape green.  According to the Southern Minnesota Research and Outreach Center, temperatures averaged 64 degrees, 3.9-degrees warmer than normal.  Rainfall was about three-quarters of an inch less than normal.  Most of the corn in the area is planted now and the early planted corn is in the V2 stage.  Corn planted on May 15 is coming up.  It has also been a good week for soybean planting.
