Fairmont native named 2018 Teacher of the Year 14 May 18

A Fairmont Native was recently named 2018 Minnesota Teacher of the Year by Education Minnesota. Kelly Holstine is an English teacher and founding member of Tokata Learning Center in Shakopee, which is an alternative learning center that opened in 2012. Prior to that, Holstine taught at two other high schools in the metro area. There were 167 candidates up for Teacher of the Year, which is the most nominations Minnestoa has had in 36 years. That number was narrowed down to 43 semifinalist. Then 12 finalist were named and interviewed before Holstine was named the Teacher of the Year.
