Semi driver charged in pedestrian hit and run 24 Apr 18

A semi driver has been charged with running a red light and hitting a runner and not stopping last fall on Highway 169. 49-year-old Brad Wayne Twait of Winthrop was charged with felony and gross misdemeanor counts of criminal vehicular operation and misdemeanor counts of  reckless driving Monday in Blue Earth County District Court. According to the criminal complaint, Twait allegedly struck a runner as she crossed Weber Avenue in North Mankato September 18th. The runner was taken to the hospital suffering from cuts on her legs. Witnesses told police the semi ran a red light, struck a pedestrian and kept going. Twait told authorities he thought he hit a dog or a deer.
