MN Department of Education gives Belle Plaine Community Center unfavorable review 18 Apr 18

The Commissioner of the Minnesota Department of Education is not in support of a community center in Belle Plaine the way it is proposed. The school district was informed by a letter from Dr. Brenda Casselius that the proposed $33 million dollar community center project received an unfavorable review and comment. For the project to move forward, the school district will need at least 60 percent approval during the May 8th vote. Cassellius also has concerns about the economic feasibility of the project. In response to the unfavorable finding, Superintendent Ryan Laager says the district is currently drafting a response to the Minnesota Department of Education.
