Customers with debt on Herberger’s cards still on hook to pay 19 Apr 18

Bon-Ton Stores, which operates over 250 Herberger’s and Younkers Department stores across the U.S., including a Herberger’s store in New Ulm, announced Tuesday they are bankrupt and all stores are expected to close within the next few month. Customers may be wondering what happens to credit accounts if the store closes. Comenity Bank that issue the Bon-Ton Stores credit card said in a statement Wednesday that even in the stores with cards that eventually close, customers with debt on the store card are still on the hook for any debt incurred. In some cases, closing a department store does not necessarily mean the closure of all the store’s credit accounts.
