North Mankato decides to enforce raising tobacco purchase age 20 Mar 18

The North Mankato City Council has agreed to keep its policy to raise the age of tobacco purchase to 21. The council decided to amend the ordinance to go into effect January 1, 2019. Originally North Mankato’s ordinance would only take effect if Mankato passed a smiliar ordinance. The Mankato council rejected the measure last month. The decision comes as other Minnesota cities, including St. Peter, decided to prohibt businesses from selling tobacco products to people under the age of 21.
