Area students participate in national observances of Florida shooting victims 15 Mar 18

Following the reading of the 17 people killed in a Florida school shooting in front of Henderson City Hall, two dozen Minnesota New Country School students were among peers from across the country that walked out of school Wednesday calling for an end of school violence. Instead of a walkout to protest gun violence in schools, at least 100 St. Peter High School student with the support of administration marched outside their building past signs with each of the Parkland victims’ names. Belle Plaine counselors, administration, staff, parents and community members held an assembly to promote the importance of helping each other and communication. In New Ulm students and some staff held hands and formed a circle to promote unity. Students and some staff at Sleepy Eye St. Mary’s High School gathered in front of the auditorium steps and had a time of vocal prayer and meditation.
