Five arraigned on drug, weapons and explosives charges 02 Feb 18

The five people arrested after a drug and weapons bust south of Willmar this week were arraigned in Kandiyohi County District Court Friday morning.  A huge arsenal of weaponry including grenade launchers and sub-machine guns, a hidden bunker, a device to cheat on drug test and a possible plot to bomb the homes of a judge, prosecutor and an attorney were found in a home owned by Chad Monson, who faces a total of nine charges including possession of machine guns, weapons with altered serial numbers, possession of a silencer and more.  Bail was set at $250,000 and his next court appearance is scheduled for February 14th.  John Jacobson of Lake Lillian, who had a bedroom in Monson’s house was charged with 9 drug and weapons counts.  His bail is set at $25,000.  Thomas Quimby and Kayla Lindstrand were arraigned on 3 and 5 drug and weapons counts respectively.  Bail was set for them at $10,000.  They were living in a bus converted into living space on Monson’s property.  Christina Johnson of Litchfield also had a bedroom in Monson’s house and she faces 3 drug and weapons charges.  Her bail was also set at $10,000.  The Minneapolis Bomb Squad was called in to detonate the explosive devices in a nearby field.
