New Ulm man accused of sexual assault now accused of welfare fraud 03 Jan 18

A New Ulm man accused of sexual assault is now also accused of welfare fraud. 57-year-old Robert James Sorenson has been charged with felony wrongfully obtaining public assistance in Sibley County District Court. According to the criminal complaint, Sorenson under-reported his income on an application for medical assistance benefits. Sorenson and his wife allegedly received nearly $9,000 in assistance for which they weren’t eligible. Sorenson is also facing charges for allegedly molesting a girl whom he knew and secretly videotaping another girl.
