Prep work begins on Highway 14/15 in New Ulm 05 Dec 17

By mid-December New Ulm residents and Highway 14/15 motorists will see construction workers getting ready for the construction of two bridges and an interchange at the Highway 14/15 and County Road 21 intersection. The preliminary work for the Gateway project includes clearing trees and brush and preparatory work for the bridge over the Minnesota River in New Ulm as weather permits. In the spring of 2018 Highway 14/15 from Broadway in New Ulm to Nicollet County Road 21, including the bridge over Front Street will be under construction. In 2019 the Minnesota Department of Transportation will replace the Minnesota River Bridge and build a new interchange at the intersection of Highway 14/15 and Nicollet County Road 21. Work in both years will require a detour. Mathiowetz Construction of Sleepy Eye has been awarded the project.
