Lafayette waits on insurance to rebuild 05 Dec 17

A little more than a month after fire destroyed two buildings in downtown Lafayette the city is still waiting on insurance to rebuild. In late October a building owned by Dennis Fenske caught fire and spread to a second building the city was renovating to become city offices. The Lafayette Fire Department with 15 other fire departments battled the blaze. The future city offices were destroyed to create a fire break between the first building and the rest of the block. The building had previously been occupied by the Lafayette Ledger which had moved to a neighboring building. The council expects to discuss the matter at its next regularly scheduled meeting on December 11th.
