Lafayette takes possession of tax-forfeited property 15 Dec 17

The Lafayette City Council unanimously approved taking ownership of the tax-forfeited property at 740 Main Avenue in downtown Lafayette. The property was the site of a former mechanic shop that was destroyed by fire last month. The city also heard from its insurance carrier stipulating the options the city has for replacing the building they were planning to use as city offices that burned in the same fire. The council did not make any decisions Monday night as to what option they will chose for rebuilding the city offices.
