Mankato officer cleared in shooting death retires from force 14 Nov 17

The Mankato Police Officer who has been cleared in the 2016 shooting death of a Chanhassen man will not be going back to the force. Chase Tulseth was fatally shot by Mankato Officer Gary Schnorenberg at the Country Inn and Swuites on December 31st, 2016. The Stearns County Attorney’s Office reviewed the case and said the use of deadly force by Schnorenberg was justified. During a struggle with Tulseth, Schnorenberg was assaulted and received a traumatic brain injury. He took a disability retirement under the Public Employees Retirement Association of Minnesota and the city will be involved with the officer’s post-employment healthcare.
