Man found dead after police surround home in response to domestic dispute 14 Nov 17

A male suspect was found dead in an Olivia residence following a four hour police standoff after police responded to a domestic dispute on the 700 block of Oak Avenue. Shortly after 6:30 a.m. Monday morning a female victim and children fled the residence. She expressed concern to authorities that the suspect may have access to firearms. Police established a perimeter around the residence and requested assistance. Neighbors were notified of the potential danger and BOLD Schools in Olivia were placed on precautionary lockdown. Shortly before 11 a.m. members of the Emergency Response Unit from Brown, Lyon, Redwood and Renville counties found one man deceased inside the residence. The Midwest Medical Examiner’s Office will determine the cause of death.
