Cornish announces resignation 22 Nov 17

Representative Tony Cornish of Vernon Center has announced that he plans to resign in light of recent allegations of sexual harrassment.  Cornish released a statement Tuesday evening saying that he has been forced to face the reality that he has made some people at the Capitol feel uncomfortable and disrespected.  The statement says Cornish reached an agreement in principle with an unnamed lobbyist that includes an apology and resigning from his office on or before December 1st.  Cornish was first elected in 2002 and has served as chair of the House of Public Safety Committee for the past three years.  His resignation could prompt Governor Dayton to call a special election to replace him in the Legislature.
