Sleepy Eye man in custody following high speed chase 02 Oct 17

A 36-year-old Sleepy Eye man is in custody following a high speed chase in New Ulm Saturday night. The New Ulm Police Department says three crashes occurred during the chase, first on Highway 14 just past the County Road 12 intersection just before 8 p.m. Saturday night. The second crash happened on Sunset Drive near Payne Street and the third at the intersection of Summit Avenue and the entrance to Flandrau State Park. Authorities spotted the suspect vehicle near Payne Street. The door was stuck open at a 90 degree angle. The driver refused to stop and ensued in a chase on Highway 68 at speeds up to 90 miles per hour before officers boxed the vehicle in so it was no longer able to move. The suspect was arrested and transported to the New Ulm hospital by ambulance. The suspect will be identified after criminal charges are filed by the Brown County Attorney’s Office.
