Results of public poll on Best Minnesota Town released 17 Oct 17

The public poll results for the Best Minnesota Town have been released. The contest was part of Minnesota Monthly magazines effort to find the town that best emobdies the “spirit of Minnesota.” Spokesman Arthur Morrissey says earlier this summer, dozens of towns submitted entries with details about their history, geographpy, community landmarks. New Ulm was chosen as one of the top 10 finalist. The public vote makes up 25 percent of the score for each town with 75 percent coming from a panel of judges. The winner will be announced November 2nd and the Best Minnesota Town receives a multi-page feature in Minnesota Monthly and a party for the town. Owatonna took the top spot of the public votes with 96,000 votes followed by Bemidji and Wasconia with 73,000 and 70,000 respectively. New Ulm came in 8th with 9,395 votes.
