New Ulm Council adopts resolution of non-support of visitor exchange visa program elimination 19 Oct 17

Each year, the New Ulm Sister Cities Commission spoonsors the Hans Joohs Cultural Exchange Program. The program has been in place for 30 years and allows the Commission to host an exchange person from Ulm, Germany and in turn, the Commission selects a person with New Ulm connections to travel to Germany for 12 weeks. The New Ulm City Council adopted a resolution in non-support of the elimination of J1 Visitor Exchange Visa Program. The J1 program allows individuals from different countries to participate in a host of different, privately funded programs such as the Hans Joohs Cultural Exchange program. A small working group based in the White House is seeking to eleminiate the majority of privately funded J1 Exchange Vistor Programs.
