Deer causes 5-vehicle accident on Highway 169 23 Oct 17

A deer running across the northbound lanes of Highway 169 in Lake Prairie Township, Nicollet County caused a 5-vehicle accident. The state patrol says a semi traveling north in the right lane swerved to miss a deer that came out of the right ditch. A Dodge Charger driven by 42-year-old Stacy Arlene Meyers of Shakopee was in the left lane and braked to slow due to the semi swerving. A Honda Sedan driven by 29-year-old Patrick Sherman Deck of Minneapolis rear-ended the Dodge. All vehicles pulled to the right shoulder. A Chevy Cruise driven by 17-year-old Lacey Rose Scharping of Gaylord slowed for deer parts in the left-lane and was rear-ended by a Chrysler PT Cruiser driven by 27-year-old Micaylia Brianna Kraywinkel of Eagle Lake. The Chrysler was struck by a Mazda Protege driven by 23-year-old Richard Antonio Gonzalez of Chaska, pushing the Chrysler into the median and ejecting Kraywinkel. The Mazda then continued across the lanes onto the shoulder into the guardrail striking a standing passenger. All those involved in the crash were treated at local hospitals for non-life threatening injuries.
