Belle Plaine teen was using cell phone during crash that killed bicyclist 05 Oct 17

A Belle Plaine teenager was using Snapchat when she struck and killed a bicyclist near Belle Plaine in June. Sixteen-year-old Paige Elizabeth Narveson was charged in Le Sueur County juvenile court with felony criminal vehicular homicide and gross misdemeanor reckless driving. At the time of the crash Narveson had a provisional license prohibiting her from using a cell phone while driving. According to the criminal complaint, Narveson told authorities she was looking down at driving directions at the time of the crash. Cell phone data showed she sent and received several Snapchat messages at the time of the crash. A wintess said 56-year-old Phillip Ilg of New Prague was riding bicycle on the gravel shoulder of Highway 25 in Le Sueur County on June 17th when he was struck. Ilg died at the scene.
