A 38-year-old New Ulm woman has been charged with felony theft after stealing a vehicle Monday. Shannon M. Minto allegedly stole a 2017 Ford Edge near 9th North Street and Broadway around 2 p.m. Monday afternoon. Later Sleepy Eye Police were advised that a female was in the ditch without any pants on in front of the Sleepy Eye Care Center on Highway 4. Police found the woman in the Miller Sellner Implement parking lot. According to the criminal complaint, Minto told authorities she was in distress and then laid down in the mud. She denied taking drugs, although police say she was showing signs of substance impairment. She was driven to the Brown County Evaluation Center. Police later identified the vehicle as the one that was reported stolen.
