Michael McLaughlin of Mankato

As a Blue Earth County Veterans’ Services Officer Mike was recently awarded the 2017 Veterans’ Voices on the Rise Award by the Minnesota Humanities Center. It recognizes Veterans from across the state who have honorably served and make outstanding contributions to their communities. Michael has devoted himself to helping Veterans and their families. He has worked at the Minnesota Assistance Council for Veterans, testified before the State Legislature for Veterans benefits, served as a Commander of an American Legion Post and VFW Post. Mike chairs the VFW Voice of Democracy Scholarship Program at Mankato High Schools and worked on the Lakes Region Veterans Memorial in Madison Lake. Michael will receive a Hy-Vee gift card—which he has donated to Minnesota Assistance Council for Veterans and be honored at a luncheon this fall.
