Watonwan County to restore historic Madelia bridge 16 Aug 17

A 109-year-old bridge that spans the Watonwan River near the Madelia Golf Course will be restored. Watonwan County received a $108,000 grant from the Minnesota Department of Transportation to pay for the restoration. The county is obligated to keep the bridge in good condition because it is on the National Register of Historic Places. The county anticipates construction could begin as early as next summer. Currently the bridge is closed due to safety concerns. The county’s goal is to make it useable for pedstrians and cyclists.
