Town Hall listening session in Mankato draws 200 farmers 17 Aug 17

A community water meeting hosted by Governor Mary Dayton in Mankato Wednesday afternoon drew a crowd of 200 farmers. The event was the second of 10 Town Hall Meetings Dayton and Agriculture Officials are holding across the state in support of Dayton’s plan to reduce water pollution by 25 percent by 2025. Mapleton farmer Steve Trio spoke about his decision to take individual responsibility for how his agriculture production impacted the nearby Cobb River. Trio’s farm was the first Minnesota Water Quality Certified Farm in Blue Earth County. Trio joined Dayton and the mayors of Mankato and North Mankato in small group discussions following the meeting. Today a Town Hall Meeting will be held in Marshall at Southwest State University from 4 until 5:30 p.m.
