Mankato quarry explosive license suspended after blast causes damage 09 Aug 17

A routine blast Tuesday in the Jefferson Quarry in Mankato early Tuesday damaged property resulting in the quarries explosives permit being immediately suspended. Mankato Public Safety says the blast occured around 10:30 Tuesday morning causing rocks up to 12 inches in diameter to damage siding and a tree at townhomes located on Harper Street. Jordan Sands’ permit to use explosives was immediate suspended until a cause and the extent of the damage is determined. Jordan Sands’ permit was suspended in April after a blast was immediately followed by a termor that damaged homes in the area. Blasting was allowed to resume after an investigation found no negligency by Jordan Sands in the April incident.
