A Madelia man who severely beat a man who he claims raped him is charged with attempted murder. A woman called police Thursday to report an assault in progress. When the first officer arrived he found 30-year-old Charles Anthony Miller standing over the victim. Miller was detained in the squad car and the victim was taken to Madelia hospital and later airlifted to a hospital in Rochester hospital. According to the criminal complaint, Miller told police he beat the man because the man had raped him. Miller admitted kicked the man in face, repeatedly punched him and tried to break his neck. He was charged Friday in Watonwan County District Court with felony second-degree attempted murder, felony threats and felony, gross misdemeanor and misdemeanor counts of assault.
