Statements made by cat beaters wife not admissible in trial 03 Jul 17

Statements made to police by the wife of a Redwood Falls man accused in the beating of a cat will not be heard at tril. The judge has ruled that the wife’s statements about the cat being from her home can be admitted as evidence, but not her statements about how Ricky Gene Kruse made threats about harming the cat. This is because the latter statements came after questioning by police. Authorities say the cat had been put in a pillow case and beaten then thrown in the dumpster at Parkside apartments in Redwood Falls. It was found December 28th, 2016. The cat received extensive veterinary treatment for injuries, bruises and lacerations throughout its body. After recovering from her injuries the cat was adopted by a family in Rochester.
